Another way that designers break up large expanses of wall is to go for bold art displays. In smaller rooms an eclectic display of several wall hung images works well. In a larger room a single statement, with an oversized picture, will usually do a better job. Single pieces of wall hung art work, dominating a facade, will make the entire room seem like it is more in proportion, even if it has not been filled with living room furniture. Alternatively, a single piece of functional sculpture, like a bespoke chimney flue, will help with the effect of making the room appear more cosy.
Steely gray can help create an intimate décor for the living room. You can paint the walls gray and if you want to go even further you can also paint the ceilings and the floor the same color. It would be like a gray canvas that you can then complete with all sorts of little decorations and details. If you want to add some fun and vibrant color accents you can always use the drapes, the rug, the lamps, the pendant, the pillows or the artwork.
While decorating the living room the basics have to be kept in mind that is not to overdo the entire decoration set up. A particular theme can also be used and the beautification can be done following the theme. Theme can also mean use of a combination of colors, which can be used in all the ornaments adorning the room also.
